Friends…True Encouragers

This morning I had the opportunity to spend some time with a man who is quickly becoming one of my best friends, and certainly one of my greatest encouragers.  We met at a local coffee shop, where I had planned to take about on hour together.  Since we both had the morning open and we both have a love for the Lord, our conversation quickly turned to what’s going on in the world, what the Bible says about it; and what’s going on in our lives (ministries) and what the Bible says about that, as well.  That one hour turned into nearly four hours.

As I think through all of the things that we talked about, one thing that is starting to sink in is how good it felt to have that time together.  It is truly a blessing to have people in my life that I can spend that much time with, and part not having said everything.  I honestly believe that we could have sat there all day and kept that conversation going without having a period of awkward silence, where one of us would have had to try to think of something else to talk about.

For much of my life I haven’t appreciated the value of real friendship.  I have had people in my life, at different times, that I considered to be friends.  But looking back now, most of those friends were really just acquaintances.  For most of my life I didn’t know how to be a friend, or how to nurture a real friendship.  That’s why this morning  was so impactful on me.  Leadership training has empowered me with the skills to have real, meaningful, friendships in my life, maybe for the first time.

The LIFE, self-directed, leadership education program may be the greatest blessing God has put in my life.  Without it I wouldn’t be married, I wouldn’t have my son, and I would probably still be living for myself.  So what are you waiting for, join the LIFE community and start living the life you’ve always wanted.  Who knows what God has planned for you!

God bless
Jason Fredrick
